Privacy policy

The short version: your inventory stays on your phone. TracStor has no account, no ads and no analytics, and we never see your bins, items, photos or places.

Effective October 5, 2026. Applies to the TracStor Android app (version 4.0 and later) and to tracstor.com.

What the app stores

Everything you enter (bins, items, locations, floor plans, categories, keywords, notes, tags, loans and the history of changes) is kept in a database inside the app on your phone.

Photos you take in TracStor are saved full size in your phone's Pictures/TracStor folder, where you can see, share or delete them like any other photo. Small thumbnails are kept inside the app so lists stay fast.

If you allow it, TracStor records the GPS position where you enter a new bin, so you can find it again on a map. You can turn this off in Settings › Map.

We, the makers of TracStor, have no copy of any of this.

What leaves your phone

TracStor works offline. It connects to the internet only for these features, and only when you use them:

  • Map pictures. When you open a bin's map, the map tiles for that area are downloaded from Esri's World Imagery service (or Google Maps, where configured). Like any map, the request reveals the area being shown. Esri and Google handle those requests under their own privacy policies.
  • Voice input. Dictation uses your phone's speech recognition service, usually Google's. Depending on your phone and its settings, speech is recognized on the phone or sent to that service. TracStor receives only the resulting text.
  • App updates for testers. If you enter an update server in Settings › App updates, TracStor sends that server your phone's name, model, Android version, TracStor version and a random ID for the phone, so it can offer newer builds. It sends nothing about your inventory. Leave the field empty and no update checks happen.
  • Android backup. Android backs up the app's database and settings to your Google account, as it does for most apps. You control this in your phone's Google backup settings.
  • Things you share. When you share a label, export a backup or send a file, it goes where you choose.

TracStor contains no advertising or analytics code and does not sell, rent or trade any information.

Permissions

Android asks before TracStor can use each of these, at the moment a feature needs it.

Backups and exports

Settings › Backup & export creates a ZIP file with your whole inventory and photos, plus spreadsheets. You pick where it's saved, such as Google Drive or your computer. Anyone with that file can read its contents, so keep it somewhere you trust.

This website

tracstor.com sets no cookies and runs no analytics or ads. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address and browser details when the page loads. A theme choice you make is remembered in your own browser only.

If you request early access, we use your email address and the phone type you choose only to send your invite and early-access updates. You can ask us to delete it at any time.

Your choices

  • Delete any bin, item or photo in the app; deleted records are erased permanently after 30 days.
  • Uninstalling TracStor removes its database from the phone. Photos in Pictures/TracStor stay until you delete them.
  • Turn off location recording, tester update checks, or Android backup at any time.
  • To access or delete the email address you gave us for early access, contact us below.

Children

TracStor isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top and describe the change in the app's What's new. A feature that would send inventory data off your phone, such as the planned family sharing, will always be opt-in and explained before you turn it on.
